Another interesting categorization problem falls in the area of anal toys. Although I read articles at least 25 years ago explaining and advising men on having anal sex with women, it was a very beneath-the-table topic, considered by heterosexuals to be some strange and half-measure ritual of homosexuals, repugnant to most women and many of their partners.

Now anal toys not only include smaller ‘butt plugs’ promoted as giving women an additional ‘penetrated’ feeling and greater pleasure, but are used by some men as well. Some women have found that they receive great pleasure from anal penetration, and have accustommed themselves to receive much larger anal toys, as well as receive their partners.

Most men find that playing with such a device may be exciting, but it must be removed before having sex, because the typical legs-together, body-straight posture of a man at that time does not allow for the protruding rim, which may be as much as 1.5 inches in diameter.

Not to worry… There are a wealth of specific male anal toys which proclaim their unique shape, and capacity to reach the exact prostate or g-spot of the man (recently being called the p-spot). These generally have a flattened two-dimensional, external extension which in addition to assuring that it cannot enter completely, will make sure it’s curved parts don’t turn away from the prostate, and it will also massage the perineum (between the scrotum and the anus). These devices have been studied and designed by the best, and there is great competition among manufacturers who make them, and yes, considerable acceptance of their use.

You will notice that we have not mentioned gays or not gays in the above writing. We do not have definitive information about the preferences of the user, but the manufacturers seriously believe that the straight market is a viable target for these sex toys.

For many years it seemed that the term sex toys signified, in the main, dongs and dildos of rubber or plastic of various textures and sizes, but which could have been called penis substitutes, and nothing more. There were a few small bullet vibrators, and an even smaller number of larger vibrating dongs, often with some connection to standard electricity. Although we all knew the voltage was reduced by a ‘charger’ type transformer, there was always the feeling that if we didn’t hang up some part of us in the wires, we might still die of electrocution, be that a rational thought or no.

As we now put together our new selections and categories, it is very evident that if we have a category of dongs and dildos, and another category of vibrators and stimulators, that most of the dongs, dildos and other penetrating devices now not only come with vibrators, but often point out how many vibrators, and how many settings each has. And all of that without wires or transformers, functioning well and long with simple batteries.

So, do they go into dongs and dildos, or do they go into vibrators, or both. There are so many new and wonderful shapes designed to stimulate g-spot, clitoris, or everything at once, that the simple penis substitute, or even a vibrating penis-shaped dildo gives off a sort of ‘left behind’ or ‘last generation’ feeling.

Well, I’m back the same day.

After a small but important meeting here, we decided to say here, up front, that with the new method of selecting product, it is not too probable that we will be up and running by the end of the month. In the past we had programs which simply dumped the large quantity of products of our suppliers onto the system, with whatever, if any, description and photo. We are now selecting each product and, although we certainly cannot say that we TEST each product, at least we make selections based on the supplier, the cost, the photo, and the description, which we hope will keep out the thousands of trivial products of the past. We’d like to have a minimum of 1000 high quality, selected products in the store.  After we are open, we will continue to improve the selection.

Well, the selection process is very slow, although it is picking up speed. As we find impediments to a rapid decision and installation, we are programming support software to speed it up. We actually started a couple of days ago, with ZERO products in the store, and have passed 100 at this time. It looks like we can search out, evaluate, price, assure we have photo, categorize, and send to the server about 25  to 35 a day with one person working full time. Before we are ready to open, that will probably climb to around 50, so…. maybe we will be a little late. Please hang in there with us.
